Sending Your Son To College? The Must Have Items To Pack

If you are sending your son to college and you want to make sure they are going to be clean, fed, and clothed, there are a few key items you want to load them up with before they head to school in the fall. You aren't going to be around to make sure that they have everything they need in the shower, that they always have clean clothes, or that they are eating the right away. To help them along while they're gone, consider the following.

Load Up on Shirts

Your college bound guy is going to wear a ton of t-shirts around campus. They will wear t-shirts to class, out with friends, under sweatshirts, and even to bed. The casual and comfy look is one that most students sport to class throughout the day, so you want to load them up with about a dozen new street shirts that they can wear at any time. Make sure they have enough that they don't have to do laundry constantly.

Send Plenty of Toiletries

Things go missing in the showers and in the dorms, and you can't send your son to college with too many toiletries. Make sure that they have enough deodorant, body wash, and shampoo to last until they get home from a local store or wholesale retailer. Find a storage container and put everything inside it, including razors if they need them, so they aren't constantly buying them at costly drug stores or from the campus store.

Pack Healthy Snacks

You don't want your son gaining a ton of weight or feeling tired because they aren't getting great snacks throughout the day, or because all they eat is cafeteria food. Send some economy sized boxes of fruit or nut bars that are high in protein and low in calories, packaged seeds and nuts, and mixes for vitamin shakes. This way your son can grab something healthy when they don't have time to eat a meal, and they don't have to grab it from the costly campus vendors.

These are just a few of the items that you want to make sure they have enough of, on top of their long list of school supplies and other living needs. Talk with your teen about what toiletries, clothes and snacks they'll want to have stocked in their door room, and get everything ready for them before they pack up and move out.
